What helps you stay on track on vacation ?
Workout:
Workout every day!!! Get up early and do your workout!! Seriously, the longer you wait, the harder it is to fit in and it gets hotter as the day goes on. Working out while traveling helps me maintain my “routine” since life is so much different while traveling. I think it helps me sleep better and deal with the challenges of the day. Energize (from the performance line) really helped me with my early morning workouts too. 🙂
Working out and having some “alone” time before the kiddos wakes up makes me feel accomplished for the day and helps me wake up. I’m energized for the day and ready to serve my family. It also inspires me to stay on track with my nutrition better if I start my day with a workout.
That workout also makes me mentally feel better with the challenges that occur throughout the day. We can’t really control much of our day but we can choose to wake up and get that workout over with. I also know that it’s a good quick workout because I don’t have to drive anywhere. Let’s face it, on vacation it can be hard to work it in in the middle of the day!! Time flies!!!
Motivation:
Join our Health & Fitness Challenge Group. People ask me all the time, “What motivates you?” Well, being a coach helps me stay on track because I’m helping others with their Health & Fitness journeys. I see other people getting their workout in and working hard with their nutrition so it inspires and motivates me to stay on track too. We are a team and support each other! It’s all about support and accountability!! We are in this together! Health and Fitness is a journey not a destination. I love motivating others and yes I need motivation and encouragement too. We all do!!
Nutrition:
Read the menus ahead of time before you go out to eat so you have an idea of what you can order. When in doubt, ask your coach or your Health & Fitness Challenge Group and they can help you decide what to eat. Don’t be afraid to ask for dressing on the side or to alter the meal a bit. Haha, I have no problem asking to leave things out of my meal. You don’t want to end up with a meal that looks nothing like you thought it would so it’s ok to ask questions. I’ll give you an example, I ordered stir fry veggies one night and it didn’t say anything about being cooked in a sauce in so I just assumed that it would be plain stir fry veggies. I was wrong! It came out in a soupy dark sauce, mostly soy sauce, eek. Lesson learned, ask what is cooked in the food so you can ask to go without the extra sauce or have it served on the side. 🙂
What’s my secret weapon?
Shakeology to the rescue, aka my superfoods!!! I love to have my superfoods as my mid morning snack so I usually had it on the beach! There was about 2 days I went without it just because our schedule was off when we first arrived. I was hungry at about 10 am and had a snack but then when it came to lunch I ordered a salad for myself and a pizza for the family. Pizza is really not a weakness of mine but I was so hungry I ate a slice of pizza too. And, that’s ok but it’s not what I normally eat. The next day I remembered my Shakeology and felt so much better at the mid morning snack time. I felt more energized, ready for the day and satisfied. So, when it was time for lunch my clean, well portioned lunch meal was satisfying and just what I needed to give me sustainable energy for the rest of the day!
